[...] I recently returned from Nepal where my foundation was working with orphans from the Unatti House and children in Bhaktapur. I also had the pleasure of doing my very first Artist Ambassador program with the Save The Children foundation and I can say that everything was an intensely emotional and gratifying experience. I plan on writing more about everything but until then, there is an extraordinary record of the trip at the HEARTbeats Nepal blog. there, you can find a wonderful account of what transpired from the perspective of my wife and HEARTbeats co-founder Helen Nightengale, Unatti House Founder, Stephanie Waiser, HEARTbeats executive board member, Drew McManus, and one of our documentarians, Janelle Eagle (bios).
You may have to leave but I believe that part of you will remain there with everyone you touched and you in turn will bring back a piece of those you shared with. What an amazing journey you were on and I thank you for sharing that with us!

All our love,

Fascinating observations, Helen. The simple rituals and acceptance of the cycles of life that you describe are a good reminder that the Eastern philosophy of acceptance and being in the now can bring a great deal of peace and tranquility, and by the same token, the Western acceptance of the Enlightenment ideas of science and reason can go so far to create health and well being as well and reduce the debilitating effects of poverty. We can only hope for a world that embraces both. thank you for allowing us to travel with you and see this through your eyes.

Hi , Josh! Amazing and thought provoking for sure. I visited a home of one of the children in a much more remote area. corrugated tin roof smooth dirt floor that gets a coat twice a week of paint and cow manure to make the floor firm and smooth. The mother, a seamstress , earns about $2 a day. I noticed no dresser or closet: no space. They wear their clothes wash them in a tin bowl and wear them again. One pair of shoes ... But, pride ,cleanliness, and ... a sense of ... happiness... Lynn

Helen you are a wonderful writer..it feels like we are along with you on the trip. What a terrific experience for all of you, the children there, and your own as well. I love the idea of the spinning wheels that bring peace, and the visualization of this concept that permeates their culture. We are looking forward to your next post, and are so excited to be part of this project with you.
Cheers

It is so wonderful to read your daily blogs and follow the impact of the music through the eyes of these children! So nostalgic for me - brings forward such important memories and feelings of those years I spent overseas. You are changing these children's lives forever and, in turn, your lives are changed forever as well. There is nothing like it....

Helen

The pictures and stories are beautiful and touching. It must feel terrific to see the concrete realization of your dream. Sounds like you are really inspiring those kids, and making good friends as well. I look forward to reading more of this blog. Your pix are great!
